Genetic improvement of onion and leek. - HH0906SFV

Objective
i) To produce breeding populations that combine bulb quality traits and pungency levels comparable with current high quality mild onion imports with the adaptive traits and storage life necessary for home production.
(ii) To produce leeks with resistance to leek rust.
(iii) To complete a preliminary study of genetic variation of bolting in early leeks and its potential impact on season extension and possibilities for import substitution.
