Eel stock assessment in the U.K. - SF0305

R&D Summary Objective: To determine the status of eel populations through a review of scientific publications and available catch data on eel fisheries in the UK. Key Customer Purpose: To enable MAFF to assess whether conservation measures are necessary for eel fisheries and, if so, whether these measures need to be addressed at a National or European level.
To collate and analyse data information from a variety of sources to provide (where possible) information on: 1. Stock levels (numbers and biomass). 2. Growth rates, condition and production. 3. Sex ratios. 4. Stocking regimes. 5. UK eel stocks vis-avis stocks in mainland Europe.
