Summary Objectives:-
Assess, monitor and predict the size and status of selected
pelagic fish stocks in order to recommend catch levels and
appropriate management measures.
Key customer purpose:-
Rational management of pelagic fish stocks on the basis of
scientific information and advice, and in accordance with
CFP. |
Objective
1.To assess, monitor and predict pelagic fish stock sizes.
2.To determine appropriate levels of exploitation on stocks
subject to TACS.
3.To consider technical measures such as closed areas and
mesh sizes and to determine the effects of these.
4.To develop improved methods of sampling and analysis for
pelagic fish stock assessments.
5.To provide immediate and longer term advice to MAFF HQ,
ICES and EC (STCF).
