Non R&D Summary Objectives:- Assess, monitor and predict the size and status of selected flat fish stocks in order to recommend catch levels and appropriate management measures. Key customer purpose:- Rational management of flat fish stocks on the basis of scientific information and advice, and in accordance with CFP.
Objective
1.To assess, monitor and predict flatfish stock sizes. 2.To determine appropriate levels of exploitation of stocks subject to TACS. 3.To consider technical measures such as closed areas and mesh sizes and to determine the effects of these. 4.To develop improved methods of sampling and analysis for flatfish stock assessments. 5.To provide immediate and longer term advice to MAFF HQ, ICES and EC (STCF)
