Summary Objectives:-
Provide data on contaminants in commercially exploited fish
and shellfish on a scale and at a frequency sufficient to
satisfy the requirements of the EC Fish and Shellfish
Hygiene Directives and to keep up to date a data base on
which local authorities can base their issue of export
certificates of compliance.
Key customer purpose:-
Provide returns to the European Commission demonstrating
compliance with the provisions of the community's Fish and
Shellfish Hygiene Directives and be able to inform shellfish
growers and fish producers whether their produce complies
with the limits set by the community. |
Objective
The major policy objective is to ensure that the UK meets
its obligations under the Fish and Shellfish Hygiene
Directives in the most cost effective manner. The
scientific objective is to ensure that the programme design
meets the policy objective and yields data of adequate
quality on a scale and frquency that does not leave the UK
open to criticism by the European Commission and ensures the
export interests of the fish and shellfish industries are
safe-guarded. |
