Summary Objectives:-
Provide scientific advice and disseminate information to various bodies including DoH, Local Authorities and to industry on shellfish hygiene matters. Ensure purification plants are effective and comply with regulations.
Key customer purpose:-
Ensure MAFF discharges statutory responsibilities and provides sound scientific advice and policy guidance on matters concerned with public health problems arising from shellfish consumption. |
Objective
1. To provide scientific advice and disseminate information
on shellfish hygiene matters (via Headquarters or directly)
to Local Authorities (EHOs), Sea Fisheries Committees, the
NRA, the Department of Health, the European Commission and
other interested parties.
2. To ensure that purification plants used by the industry
are effective and comply with regulations.
