Transformation of the cultivated mushroom using homologous sequences. - HH1102SMU

The project will exploit the unique containment facility for mushroom cropping available at HRI. Existing and newly generated transgenic strains containing heterologous and homologous sequences and produced by a variety of methods will be taken through to cropping. The stability of transgenes through nuclear division during mycelial growth (mitotic) and basidiospore production (meiotic) will be determined. Transgene transfer, through mycelial anastomosis and via spores, which are seen as the likely major transgene vector, will be evaluated.
