Nature-based social prescribing quality assurance and evaluation framework - BE0143

This investment aims to develop standardised tools for service providers to support the roll-out of nature-based social prescribing across England. It will do this through seed-funding a project led by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) and supported by NHS England.
The objectives are:
• To engage stakeholders and assess current quality assurance and outcomes measures used across the nature-based social prescribing sector
• To run a series of focus groups and/or workshops to develop a high level quality assurance approach pertinent to the more acute clinical needs of care farming and selected other intervention types
• To produce an insight report and planning document to inform development of standardised quality assurance tools and a common evaluation framework through a wider project funded by the Big Lottery Fund (BLF)
• Through this programme and the wider project, to enable the nature-based social prescribing sector to catch up with other sectors with a more developed and consistent social prescribing offer

The project will contribute to a wider initiative led by TCV funded by the BLF. The wider initiative is working across sectors and will:
• Produce a standardised quality assurance tool, which has been fully tested and endorsed by a clinical body such as The Royal College of GPs
• Develop and test new referral pathways, with agreement secured from clinical groups
• Develop a standardised common evaluation framework, with endorsement from one or more health education organisations or sector skills groups
