Scoping Research on the Sourcing of Pet Dogs from Illegal Importation and Puppy Farms - AW1409
|
Description
This is an addition to a research project already being funded by the Scottish Government on the sourcing of pet dogs in the UK. The Scottish funded project aims to address four key questions:
1. What are the nature, extent and value of legal and illegal puppy sales in the UK? 2. Are there improvements that could be made to the Pets Travel Scheme that would help prevent the illegal importation of puppies? 3. Are there improvements that could be made to the Balai Directive? 4. What additional improvements could be developed to help prevent the illegal international trade of puppies and unregistered puppy farms?
The Defra funded aspect of the project will fund focus groups in England and Wales to ensure that data collected reflects GB as a whole and to maximise the value of the Scottish funded project for Defra |
