Continuation of MB5102 Regional Economists call off contract for Marine Conservation Zone Impact Assessments - MB5105

Description
Defra is currently in the process of establishing the necessary information to allow a designation decision to be made on the second tranche of marine conservation zones (MCZs). As part of this, Defra are obliged to develop an Impact Assessment of the tranche 2 MCZs. This will build on the existing Impact Assessments put together initial by the MCZ regional projects and then for the tranche 1 MCZ designation decision.

Defra have utilised the services of economists to provide ongoing advice and technical support since 2012 in order to aid the production of the Tranche 1 and Tranche 2 impact assessments. The puropose of this contract is to enable a continuation of this existing advisory and support role as Defra continue to develop the tranche 2 impact assessment. No specific methodolgy is provided here, as the specific tasks require of the consultant have not yet been defined. However, methods are likely to include, literature review, stakeholder engagement, technical analysis and advice on MCZ regional project processes, decision making and other related historical issues of relevance to Defra.
Objective
The aim of the project will be to provide advice and analysis outputs which serve to either improve Defra's understaning of MCZ issues or MCZ project processes, or act as direct inputs to Defra MCZ impact assessment work. Specific outputs cannot yet be defined as the specific tasks required of the consultants have not yet been defined.
