Farm Business Innovation, Co-operation and Performance - DO0146

Description
This project will be based on the Farm Business Survey and primarily use case studies to provide a qualitative analysis on approaches to informal and formal cooperation / collaboration and attitudes to and uptake of innovative practices and technology on farms
Objective
The research will question the extent of formal and informal co-operation between farmers and the key drivers behind any such arrangements. These areas of farm management will also be considered in relation to farm performance through a quantitative analysis of existing FBS data. On-farm interviews will be undertaken with 60 farmers to discuss issues in depth around cooperation, innovation and technology and, following this, a separate focus group of the researchers will meet to agree the findings and the key messages coming out of the interviews. This scoping work will also be supported by a literature review.
