Evaluation of Citizen Dialogue on Bovine TB - SE3050

Description
Defra’s priorities focus on opportunities to maximise economic growth and aim to improve the natural environment, generate rural economic growth and safeguard animal and plant health. Governance and the ‘ownership’ of animal disease and welfare is a key strategic priority for the department, making sure roles and responsibilities are equitably shared between government and industry and public confidence and trust is maintained. Objective
Key objectives for the dialogue are to:
• Engage the general public and a wide range of stakeholders in understanding, debating and co-designing the future strategic direction of bTB policy
• Increase understanding of public attitudes towards and understandings of bTB control measures
• Explore citizen and stakeholder views about the roles and responsibilities for government, industry and civil society in taking issues forward, including bTB control measures for both cattle and wildlife
• Promote understanding and deliberation of approaches to animal disease control in general, using bTB as the specific focus
• Develop and appraise opportunities to build a trust relationship between the general public, stakeholders and government in developing policy options for animal disease control
