Determining the process for the design and management of a low consequence/hazard reservoir - FD2658
|
Description
This project will emphasise the importance of commissioning a competent reservoir designer and contactor to ensure the recommendations of the guidance are met. It will highlight the need to plan and obtain all the necessary permissions from the various regulatory and planning authorities. |
Objective
The overall aim of the research is to produce a methodology for determining what comprises a low risk reservoir. In order to assess the nuture of an existing reservoir, or contribute to the design of a new reservoir, it will be necessary to understand what might happen should the reservoir fail. To make such an assessment requires an understanding of how the dam structure might fail and what the zone of influence from failure might be under different topographic setting. at a local level, this requires a simple means for assessing the extent and nature of inundated and impact. |
