European approaches to Environmental Regulation - BR0104

Description
A short research project aimed at bringing together easily accessible information about how other EU countries approach the Better Regulation agenda for environmental policy. The project focussed on: five EU countries (Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden and Spain), five policy areas (air quality and pollution, chemicals and nanotechnologies, sustainable products, waste management and prevention and water availability and quality) and six themes (Holistic and co-operative approaches, Relationship between the regulator and regulate, Degree of regulatory responsiveness, Joined up compliance and enforcement, Alternatives to classic regulation, Best practice in policy-specific areas).
Objective
• Identify key trends and developments in better environmental regulation in the EU
• Identify future research priorities
