UK Consumption Emissions by Sector & Origin - EV0466
|
Description
Project EV02033 ‘Development of an Embedded Carbon Emissions Indicator‘ determined that whilst the UK’s territorial CO2 emissions have decreased between 1992 and 2004, the CO2 emissions released worldwide in the production of goods and services consumed in the UK increased considerably over the same time period (e.g. Wiedmann et al. 2008). It is important to understand the source of these emissions if the Government is to collaborate internationally to reduce the impacts of our consumtpion abroad.
This report is based on improved data showing the sector and country of origin of emissions released in order to produce goods and services for import to the UK. The report pulls out some headline figures from this dataset and presents the headline trends |
