Rame Head Environmental Impact Study - ME5414

Description
Summary Objectives

An independent review into the Rame Head disposal site has been requested by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Natural Environment and Fisheries, Richard Benyon MP, and is being led by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). In order to complete this review, technical expertise is being commissioned by Defra on behalf of the MMO.This review aims to assess whether the original conditions under which the licenses were granted to the Rame Head disposal site remain valid and environmental effects remain tolerable. The review will critically examine and test the existing and emerging evidence to achieve the aim as set out above as well as identifying any existing data gaps. EXISTING MONITORING EVIDENCE - To assess the validity of the existing monitoring evidence gathered in relation to the Rame Head disposal site and associated disposal activities, including a review of monitoring evidence gathered by Cefas and others.SEDIMENTARY COMPOSITION - To advise the MMO on the composition of the sedimentary materials previously found at the site, including an assessment of the likelihood of suspension or settlement. LOCAL OPINION - To establish and collate the range of local views and perspectives on the disposal activities at the site. A meeting should be held with local stakeholders to inform this part of the review and consultation should be undertaken with a range of key stakeholders (see Annex 1).EVIDENCE GAPS – To advise the MMO on whether the existing evidence is fit for purpose

Key Customer Purpose
