PAH Monitoring in the UK (2007-2009) - AQ0602VAR
|
Description
To continue and extend the modelling and monitoring programme on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). PAHs are currently monitored at 24 sites to assess ambient levels in urban roadside, background, suburban, industrial and rural areas. Eighteen sites are maintained and operated under schedule 1 (PAH Network) and a further six are maintained and operated under schedule 2 (TOMPs Network). The PAH analysis of the samples for all 24 sites is undertaken in schedule 1 (the PAH Network). Further information on PAHs Monitoring and Analysis Network can be obtained on the AEQ Division Research Programme website at: http://www.airquality.co.uk/archive/contracts/index.php. |
Objective
The Aim of the PAH Network is to provide information on the ambient levels of PAH in the UK through monitoring and modelling to inform UK negotiations and compliance assessments in anticipation of a forthcoming EU 4th Daughter Directive on PAHs and the Air Quality Strategy PAH Objective.
To provide measurements and trends of airborne concentrations of PAHs in representative UK urban and other areas and compare and contrast them with those in rural locations.
