Supporting the Development of a Social Science Strategy for the FCERM R&D Programme - FD2604

Description
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: To develop a clear vision and draft strategy for social science research within the Joint Defra/Environment Agency FCERM research programme over the next five years.

KEY CUSTOMER PURPOSE: This research will put in place a draft strategy for social science in FCERM R&D research programme which will help embed social science within the wider context of FCERM. This should result ultimately in holistic solutions to flooding issues. It will also ensure that social science and interdisciplinary research projects are clearly rooted in a `joined up` strategy. This will be of interest to Defra FCERM research and policy staff as well as social science staff in Defra and the Environment Agency.

PROJECT CLOSING STATEMENT:
This project aims to support the development of a social science strategy for the Defra and Environment Agency FCERM R&D Programme. Through collaborative research and a focus on capacity building the project has developed a Vision Statement for FCERM R&D and revealed a series of existing opportunities to achieve that vision. The Vision and opportunities provide the building blocks for embedding social sciences in the FCERM R&D Programme.
