Description
Summary Objectives:
To provide full scale, pilot evaluation of the application of genetic egg identification methods to a full annual survey (5 RV cruises) of gadoid spawning undertaken in spring 2006 in the Irish Sea and to provide high-resolution data on distribution of spawning by cod and other species in 2006 to inform the review of appropriate temporal and spatial boundaries for spawning closures in the Irish Sea over the subsequent 5 years.
Key Customer Purpose:
To improve accuracy and cost effectiveness of survey programmes to provide a valuable line of evidence for the justification of fisheries policy in this sea region.
