Evaluation Supporting the Quinquennial Review of the Milk Development Council - ER02047

Description
The MDC is a Non Departmental Public Body which was established in February 1995 to take on some of the work previously undertaken by the Milk Marketing Boards in Great Britain. Its mission is "to advance the competitive position and increase the technical strengths of Great Britain's dairy farmers". It is funded through a levy on all milk sold ex-farm. Initially established for a three year period, Agriculture Ministers decided in 1998 that the Council should continue for a further five years. The strategic options aspect of the second QQR was required to be carried by February 2003 and stage one of this review has been completed dealing with the key issue of continuance. The evaluation is required to inform the second stage of the QQR which addresses some organisational issues.
