Revision of Making the Best of Byways - WC03002

Description
The project is a follow-on to another project, which is assessing the degree to which byways open to all traffic are used by mechanically propelled vehicles and the condition of those byways. The purpose of this follow-on project is to undertake further work to use the data to inform and develop guidance for Local Authorities on the effective management of byways. Also to build on current research, especially to look at nature conservation impacts, where concern is growing about the impact of motor vehicles and to produce advice and guidance.

Current guidance was published in 1998 and needs to be updated because of the increase in vehicular traffic on byways and other factors.
