Marine Data & Information Partnership Co-ordinator - ME4119
|
Description
Key Customer Purpose - Why is the R&D needed?
There is a persistently recognised need for greater harmonisation and co-ordination in marine data and information in what is a very fragmented marine science community. This fragmentation arises primarily from the diverse interests, roles and responsibilities of the organisations within the sector. We need to develop a framework and create a broadly based partnership of public and private sector organisations concerned with marine data and information.
Summary Objectives
The aim of the MDIP Programme is to establish a national framework that enables Government departments, non-departmental public bodies, research institutes and the private sector to achieve a more co-ordinated approach to managing marine data and information.
