EUMETSAT Jason-2 Ocean Altimetry Programme Phase 1: Defra contribution to UK subscription - SD0401

Description
Summary Objective
To provide accurate sea level data (1mm/year) on a regional and global scale via satellite - borne altimeter.

Key Customer Purpose
Altimeter data are important in climate model validation, as model predictions for future sea level rise in response to global warming vary greatly in their regional patterns. JASON - 2 will complement the ARGO observations and it will enable an enhanced monitoring and prediction capability.

As co-funder, Defra have allocated a £60k contribution to this project over a 2 year period.
