Continuous Plankton Recorder - III (MARP 47) - ME3104

Description

(Key Customer) Purpose - Why is the R&D needed?
Assist DEFRA in determining a wider understanding of the health of marine ecosystems in relation to natural and anthropogenic change and provide key data to support e.g. Quality Status Reports for discussion at OSPAR & ICES.


Summary Objectives
To maintain the expertise and infrastructures to analyse plankton in UK waters using the Sir Alister Hardy`s Continuous Plankton Recorder. The work will support extension of the Continuous Plankton Recorder time series from 2001 to 2006 for CPR routes close to the UK and in the North East Atlantic and contribute to the UK National Marine Monitoring Programme and the Global Ocean Observing System.
