Estimate consumer willingness to pay for reducing or eliminating GM products or derivatives in food and increasing robustness of the labelling regime - CB02023
Description
The purpose of the research is to provide monetary estimates of the benefits to consumers of (a) reducing or eliminating the presence of GMOs or their derivatives in food, and of (b) increasing the reliability and stringency of labelling of such products. The methodological approach proposed to derive estimates of these benefits is to ask consumers to state what they would be willing to pay to attain them.
The research will be an important component of the Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) of an EU proposal currently under negotiation on the permitted levels of GMOs in the food chain.
