A Comparative analysis of radon measurements in dwellings - RS01010

This project aims to 1) Compare estimates of radon concentrations in air made in dwellings using three different types of radon detector which are simple to install and use, and continuous monitoring of radon. 2) For the simple detector types, compare limits on annual average radon concentrations estimated from measurements made over periods of :a) One week or less, the period in each case being determined by the detector manufacturer’s recommendations and by usual industry practice; b) One month c) Three months. 3) Draw conclusions as to the spread and repeatability of results obtained using the various detectors and techniques and recommend preferred measurement methods for a) Situations where a rapid result is desired, such as home purchase b) Situations where there is no urgency for a rapid result.
