Rural areas: Establishing an evidence base for national policy development - RE0201

Description
1. To establish the key national datasets that are available to describe social and economic conditions in rural England. This will also provide details of the levels of resolution, limitations and utility of these data.

2. To conduct an analysis of social and economic data to establish the extent and scale of the key dimensions identified above, to aid DEFRA in establishing where and how national policy development should address rural issues.

3. To conduct a detailed analysis that identifies correlations between the key components (national datasets). Further analysis may be needed to determine causality and to identify any clear (geographic and statistical) differences and variability within the data sets comprising local authorities/unitary authorities.

4. To produce a key map of each relevant variable,

5. To produce a technical report for each variable used in the study setting out a concise desscription for each variable, key descriptive statistics in any relevant division of `rural` and the outputs of the statistical analyses.
