Description
To develop a bioassay directed fractionation procedure capable of identifyinghydrophobic and hydrophilic hazardous substances in marine sediments, the endpoints used in the assay to allow for the concurrent identification of toxic (lethal), mutagenic and oestogenic substances.

To perform a survey of industrially impacted marine areas in the UK using the developed methodology.

To provide the Department with a priority list of compounds with a demonstrated hazard in selected marine sediments.
