Design manual for agricultural pesticide handling and washdown areas - CB01019

Description
DEFRA contributed to an Environment Agency contract with ADAS on pesticide handling and washdown areas. The objective was to develop practical and low-cost design criteria for pesticide handling and washdown areas in order to reduce pesticide pollution from such point sources, based on an improved understanding of the risk from waste pesticides arising from agricultural activites.

This project has helped to reduce the risk of pesticide pollution of controlled waters from point source handling and washdown areas. Farmers will be provided with a nationally consistent design and construction manual for pesticide handling areas based on practical engineering design and cost effectiveness to ensure that the design will be adopted.
