Description
The aim of this contract was to continue the development of an electronic databse, the Relational Database of Information on Potential Endocrine Disrupters or REDIPED, which contains a range of information on substances suspected of having endocrine disrupting properties. The purpose of the database is to assist in the selection of priority suspected endocrine disrupting chemicals in the environment, in order to facilitate policy decisions on testing needs, research and monitoring requirements and the need for risk assessment and management. The database has been developed with input from other Government departmetns and agencies and will allow targeting of resources on priority chemicals throughout Government. An additional benefit is easy access to the state of knowledge on endocrine disrupting potential for a particular chemical or class of chemicals. This contract built on a pilot database to produce a fully operational system with an extended dataset for wide circulation and use.
