PROJECT CLOSING STATEMENT:
This project views data as central to flood and coastal risk management, and aims to understand the efficiency of current data and information practices and opportunities that exist to improve the flood and coastal defence process through better data management. The key findings of the project focus upon the five key principles of data management: data understanding, roles and responsibilities, processes and procedures, enabling technologies and audit.
To develop a strategic approach to Flood and Coastal data and information by establishing the current position, research needs and framework for future data management in the context of existing initiatives particularly IACMST. To understand uncertainties and enable the development of a strategic approach to data and information management, covering the whole `cycle` of collection, dissemination and use of data for decision-making, to support policy development, implementation and operations.
KEY CUSTOMER PURPOSE:
To set the framework for Flood and Coastal data and information management issues which Defra and EA can implement. To inform those involved in the collection, management and archiving of data related to Flood and Coastal Management of the current position and research needs.
