Estuary research programme phase 2 - FD1905

Description
Project Closing Statement:
The research has led to the development of new ideas and algorithms as described in the technical reports. The outcomes of the research are improved knowledge and understanding of estuary processes relating to prediction of hydrosedimentary parameters (TR2). It has also been possible to produce improvements on existing predictive algorithms for application by estuary modellers and to generate new algorithms covering a wider range of parameters (TR3). Finally, key datasets accessed during the project have been documented in a separate report (TR4)

Summary Objective:
To develop further the understanding of hydrodynamic and sedimentary processes and biological sedimentary interactions within estuaries to build on work done in Estuaries Research Programme Phase I providing outputs for use by BSM Theme in developing improved Estuary Impact Assessment Systems.

Key Customer Purpose:
The research will deliver improved understanding and predictive capabilities in support of estuary management (predictions of morphological change, water quality and ecological habitats) and risk assessments for flood and coastal defence.
