Validation of cod larval-otolth reading (COMPLETED 8/92) - MF0413

R&D Summary Objective:- Examine the daily ring structure of otoliths of wild caught and hatchery reared cod larvae in order to improve the deletemethodology for ageing cod. Key customer purpose:- More accurate ageing of cod larvae will improve the modelling and forecasting of recruitment into the commercial fishery.
1) To rear cod larvae and examine their otoliths in order to validate the use of daily increments for age and growth rate determination. 2) To improve and standardise reading methods for larval otolith increments
